Sri Lanka's warmth
is not only for the holiday maker.
It is for those who need our compassion too.

KaydenCares Framework is Sri Lanka's independent care standards and registry body โ€” lifting the standard of care to international levels, adapting the lessons of more developed nations, and placing Sri Lankan compassion on the world stage.

OUR VISION FOR SRI LANKA

World-class care, rooted in
Sri Lankan heart.

"Sri Lanka's hospitality is not only for the holiday maker. Our warmth, our compassion, our culture of service โ€” these are the very qualities that make exceptional care. We are not copying another country's system. We are building our own โ€” informed by the lessons of those who walked this road before us, and shaped by who we are."

โ€” Soshana Wijeratne Austin, Co-Founder

International Standards, Sri Lankan Soul

We draw on the most developed care frameworks in the world โ€” WHO global guidance, the UK's CQC, Australia's Aged Care Quality Standards โ€” and we adapt them. We take what is proven, discard what does not fit our culture, and build something that is genuinely Sri Lankan and genuinely world-class.

Learning from Those Who Walked First

Countries like the UK, Australia and Japan have spent decades learning what works and what causes harm in care. We do not need to repeat their mistakes. KaydenCares Framework brings those hard-won lessons to Sri Lanka โ€” translated, contextualised, and built into every standard we set.

Sri Lanka as a Global Care Destination

Our vision extends beyond our borders. As standards rise, Sri Lanka's warmth and compassion will attract families from around the world who are seeking not just care, but genuine human connection. KCF-registered services will be the mark of trust for Sri Lankan families โ€” and for families everywhere.

THE KAYDENCARES CHARTER

Eight Commitments to Those in Our Care

Every KCF-registered provider commits to these eight principles. They are not aspirations โ€” they are expectations.

See the Person

Every individual in care is a full human being with a history, preferences, beliefs and dreams. We commit to seeing the person before the condition.

Hear Their Voice

Whether spoken or unspoken, every person has a way of communicating. We commit to learning that language and acting on what we hear.

Honour Their Choices

You cannot force safety over happiness. We commit to supporting informed decision-making and respecting the wishes of those in our care.

Protect Without Controlling

Protection must never become imprisonment. We commit to safeguarding dignity, freedom and autonomy alongside physical safety.

Never Sedate to Manage

Medication is for treatment, not compliance. We commit to zero tolerance of chemical restraint used to make vulnerable people easier to manage.

Keep Families Connected

Isolation is harm. We commit to maintaining meaningful family contact and transparent communication with those who love the people we serve.

Be Accountable

Good care thrives under scrutiny. We commit to transparent reporting, honest self-assessment and welcoming independent oversight.

Treat as You Would Be Treated

Ask yourself โ€” what would I want if I were in this situation? How would I want to be treated? Then do that. This is the foundation of everything.

"You cannot force safety over happiness. True care begins with respect."

โ€” KaydenCares Framework Charter

Why I am doing this.
Because life is a full circle.

I am doing this because my son Kayden showed me how easily vulnerable lives can be failed when systems are not built to truly see, value, and protect difference.

Kayden lives with profound autism and complex health needs. Even with visible vulnerability, we have faced moments where the care he needed was questioned โ€” not on medical grounds, but on perceived worth. That should never happen.

Through Kayden, and through what later happened to my parents, I came to understand how devastating the consequences can be when vulnerability is unrecognised, misunderstood, or unsupported. The widespread ignorance of neurodiversity and dementia โ€” coupled with a deep sense of shame โ€” makes life even more difficult for those living with it and increases their risk of harm and neglect.

Being neurodiverse or living with dementia is nothing to be ashamed of. There is validity in different ways of thinking, responding, and experiencing the world. The failure lies not with difference, but with systems that are slow to adapt and reluctant to protect.

I am doing this so that vulnerable lives are not left to judgement, silence, or chance.

"Because life is a full circle.

And care must be there โ€” every step of the way."

OUR STORY

Built from truth.
Carried forward with love.

Soshana Wijeratne Austin is the Founder, Managing Director and CQC-Registered Manager of KaydenCare in the United Kingdom, and Co-Founder of the KaydenCares Framework. She holds an MS in Communications from Boston University and a BS in Behavioural Studies from Wilson College, Pennsylvania. Her professional expertise spans clinical governance, safeguarding, CQC compliance, medication management, and workforce development.

KaydenCares Framework was born from personal experience โ€” watching systems fail the people she loved most, and deciding to do something about it. Her mother was isolated, medicated without consent, and stripped of her identity. Her father's estate is being dismantled by those who saw only money. The law could not touch them. There was nothing.

KaydenCares Framework is her response โ€” not just to what happened to her family, but to every family in Sri Lanka who deserves better. With her husband Gary Austin, Co-Founder and Strategic Director, they are building the infrastructure Sri Lanka needs โ€” before it is too late.
